Victoria J Mondloch: How to prepare for pregnancy

She is one of the most established family doctors in Waukesha, Wisconsin, so to say that Victoria J Mondloch knows plenty about helping women conceive would be a gross understatement. She is the go-to medical person in Wisconsin, has contributed to journal after journal and in short, knows what she is talking about.

While every medical board in the country has its own tips on how you can prepare for being pregnant, we have gone straight to Victoria Mondloch to try and get a little more information. Let’s not forget that this is a period where your body will completely change state – and as such, you need to prepare it accordingly.

Bearing this in mind, let’s read the main advice that Dr. Victoria J Mondloch has to offer in this regard.

Your weight needs to be managed

As you will soon find out through this article, one of the biggest pieces of advice that Victoria Mondloch has to offer surrounds your general health. This all starts with your weight and while this is something which will be naturally affected as you progress through the nine-month process, prior to actually conceiving you need to make sure that you are staying on top of it and staying slender.

One or two journal articles have highlighted that there is a direct link between people being overweight and struggling to conceive. Not only that, but other studies have shown that it also increases the chances of you suffering from gestational diabetes during your pregnant state.

Keep on top of any pre-existing conditions or medication

It can be hard at the best of times to live with certain conditions, but when you are pregnant these things need even more attention.

For example, let’s hone in on diabetes. As anyone who struggles with the condition will testify, life can be tough. However, you have to be even more vigilant when you are pregnant, as if your blood sugar levels are not controlled you risk your child suffering with cardiovascular disease, or other problems, when they are born.

This was just one example but in truth, a lot of conditions need managing more closely when you are pregnant to ensure that nothing is passed on to your child.

Stop smoking before you get pregnant

It sounds obvious but worryingly, a lot of women still decide to continue smoking in the middle of their pregnancy.

This doesn’t just hinder your chances of conceiving, but it can have terrible effects on your unborn child. If you smoke whilst pregnant, you are risking your baby being born at a low weight, whilst Down syndrome becomes a distinct possibility as well. There are a whole host of other birthing defects that might affect your child as well, while let’s also not forget all of the breathing implications when they are born. The last thing you want them doing is breathing in smoke during their early years, and potentially risking their body and young lungs.
